There is a change of guard at TVS-E. In place of Mr. S. Narendran, Mr. M. Somasundram has joined as the Executive Vice-President. The former has quitted from the organization recently. The mission of the company is to take IT to the heart of India and this remains a byword for all the members.
TVS Electronics is a part of the 90-year-old TVS Group. This makes the company to have a rare feet among the Indian incorporates. Started in the year 1986, TVS Electronics, which is an IT peripherals manufacturer, today has transformed itself into a provider of Transaction Automation Products and Solutions and Contract Customer Support. Over the
past two decades, the company’s singular focus has been to provide innovative, made-in-India solutions to Indian customers’– be it the SMEs, Enterprise, Banks, Retail or Government customers. The products that TVS-E deals in include Printers, Keyboards, Supplies and Transaction Solutions.
Somasundram, the Head-de-Affair of TVS-E transaction business, spoke to VarIndia as to what is his agenda for taking TVS-E forward in 2008. According to him, there will be three key products, which are going to drive the growth of TVS-E, which include POS (point of sale) series of products, Key Board Variants and Revamping MSP model with enriched features.
Somasundram says, “My agenda for 2008 at TVS-E is to drive the new growth engines for the organization, which are POS (point of sale) products – catering to the Retail IT hardware needs and solution space focussing on self-service kiosk solutions.”
This year, TVS-E will also bring out a wide range of POS, Keyboard and DMP products.
His responsibility also includes consolidating the leadership position of TVS-E and driving the profitability. As a key person, Somasundram also looks after product development, channel development and the entire management of channel.
As far as focussing on marketing and sales of the company is concerned, the company is eyeing on grabbing a major share of the pie. According to Somasundram, for achieving this goal, we are working towards driving revenue by increasing the market share with focussed channel and customer coverage.
Though Somasundram did not reveal exactly what would be the flavour of the engagement programmes for the channels, there will be subtle changes to address and penetrate the SMB and large Enterprises space. One of the changes might be to approach through vertical-specific programmes.
TVS-E today has nearly 3,500 resellers, but efforts are afoot to increase this number through penetrating into tier-III cities by increasing the end-user addressing partners. The company engages in activities, which start addressing the national-level partners and then move to address the regional partners and this principle will remain intact the whole year.
Apart from the channel activities, the company also takes care of its branding activities for the products. Somasundram says, “This quarter, we have kick-started various channel connect activities like reseller meets, road shows, expos and exhibitions.”
As far as POS and keybaords are concerned, TVS-E is not only a favourite brand in India, but the company has also expanded its brand to the overseas markets, including Sri Lanka and Nepal.
With Somasundram in the hot chair, we expect TVS-E achieve many milestones in the coming times.
