OpenAI is extending ChatGPT’s image-generation capabilities into everyday messaging, allowing mobile users to create personalised sticker packs from text prompts and share them across WhatsApp, Instagram and Apple Messages.
OpenAI has introduced an AI-based sticker creation feature in ChatGPT, allowing users to generate personalised sticker packs for use across popular messaging platforms. The feature is available globally to ChatGPT mobile users at no extra charge and is powered by the company’s ChatGPT Images 2.0 technology.
Rather than selecting from fixed sticker libraries, users can describe an idea in natural language and have ChatGPT generate a collection based on that prompt. The feature is aimed at casual messaging, giving users a way to turn personal experiences, pets, friends, family moments and recurring jokes into customised visual content.
The company is positioning the update as an extension of its image-generation capabilities, moving beyond standalone images towards smaller, shareable visuals designed for conversations. The feature is built specifically with mobile users in mind and supports multiple artistic treatments for creating different interpretations of the same concept.
Create personalised sticker packs with prompts
Users can begin by describing the type of sticker collection they want ChatGPT to create. For example, a prompt could request stickers depicting a pet reacting to different situations, a friend associated with particular habits or food preferences, or cartoon versions of familiar expressions.
ChatGPT then generates a set of stickers around the specified theme, allowing users to create content that is more personal than conventional pre-designed sticker collections. The system can also be used to develop stickers inspired by family members, friends or pets, including stylised interpretations of recognisable moments.
Each generated pack can include up to nine stickers, providing multiple variations around a central theme. Users can select from as many as 18 visual styles, including options such as Anime, Holographic and 3D. This gives users greater control over the overall appearance of their sticker collection.
The generated packs can also be further customised by remixing them with emojis. Once the stickers are ready, users can download the collection or share it through supported messaging services. This makes the AI-created stickers suitable for both one-to-one conversations and group chats.
Global rollout reaches ChatGPT mobile users
OpenAI is rolling out the sticker-generation capability globally to users of the free ChatGPT tier on mobile devices. The company has also demonstrated the feature through a video showing the process of generating, customising and sharing sticker packs.
The addition gives ChatGPT Images 2.0 another practical use case, particularly as AI-generated visual content becomes increasingly common in social and messaging applications. Instead of requiring users to manually create graphics or search through existing sticker libraries, the feature allows them to generate personalised content through simple text instructions.
With the update, OpenAI is broadening the role of ChatGPT in mobile communication, using AI-generated imagery to create content that can move directly from an AI conversation into everyday messaging.
