
Coinbase, JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPMorgan) and Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft) emerged as the most mentioned companies among blockchain influencer discussions on Twitter during fourth quarter (Q4) of 2020, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
Smitarani Tripathy, Influencer Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “The discussions related to Coinbase were largely driven by the announcement of launch of its cryptocurrency debit card in the US. The debit card users will be able to use cryptocurrencies holdings for both online and store shopping and can also convert it to cash at the ATM.”
JPMorgan Chase emerged as another most mentioned company, led by surge in discussions when it declared that a major tech firm is about to start using its digital currency, JPM Coin for the first time. JPMorgan also announced the launch of its business unit ‘Onyx’ to focus on blockchain and digital currency.
Among trends, bitcoin, cryptocurrency and Ethereum emerged as the most mentioned trends among blockchain influencer discussions on Twitter during Q4 2020.
The discussions around bitcoin and cryptocurrency were related to the availability of crypto trading service by PayPal Holdings Inc. The users can buy, sell and hold various cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, bitcoin cash, ether and Litecoin.
An analysis of GlobalData’s Blockchain Influencer Platform, which tracks more than 200 leading industry experts and their discussions pertaining to the emerging trends, pain areas, new fields of innovation and other popular areas on Twitter, revealed Ryan Selkis, founder and CEO at Messari, as the top influencer during Q4 2020. Selkis largely shares updates on bitcoin and digital currency ecosystem. He is also the founding team member at the Digital Currency Group and CoinDesk.
Andreas M Antonopoulos emerged as the next top influencer among the blockchain experts with an influencer score of 99. Antonopoulos is an expert in bitcoin and open-blockchain technologies and a bestselling author, followed by Steven D. Mckie, founding partner at Amentum, with an influencer score of 98.
