Databricks, a global leader in data and AI infrastructure, is reportedly in talks to raise capital at a valuation exceeding $130 billion. If finalized, this would make the company one of the world’s most valuable private tech firms, outpacing several public cloud software companies and signaling rising investor confidence in enterprise AI.
The company was last valued at $43 billion in 2021 after a $1.6 billion Series H round. Since then, Databricks has seen explosive growth, fueled by enterprise adoption of AI, strategic acquisitions, and a rapidly evolving platform ecosystem.
Much of this growth has been driven by the generative AI wave. Databricks has positioned itself as a critical enabler for enterprises looking to train, govern, and deploy large language models (LLMs) at scale.
A pivotal moment came in 2023 with the acquisition of MosaicML, giving Databricks stronger model training capabilities and deepening its AI infrastructure moat.
At the core of Databricks’ strategy is its Lakehouse architecture, which merges the capabilities of data lakes and warehouses into a unified, high-performance platform.
This architecture supports scalable storage, LLM training, multi-cloud deployment, and data governance — all essential for AI-driven digital transformation in sectors like finance, healthcare, and manufacturing.
Analysts say the $130B+ valuation, while bold, may be justified. The company is estimated to have crossed $1.6–$2 billion in revenue, with over 10,000 enterprise customers and an annual growth rate of 50–60%.
Potential investors include existing backers such as Andreessen Horowitz and Tiger Global, as well as sovereign wealth funds and strategic corporate investors looking to tap into enterprise AI.
With a likely IPO window opening in late 2025 or early 2026, Databricks is not just raising capital — it's cementing its role as a foundational pillar of the AI-first enterprise era.
