Dell reaches top position in Indian PC Market in Q1 CY 14

Dell India(NASDAQ:DELL) has announced that it has attained No. 1 position in the Indian PC market with a 23.1-per cent share across segments in Q1CY2014, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC). With 33.1-per cent share, Dell is also the No. 1 Notebook Brand in India. This leadership position, reiterates Dell’s belief in the PC business, and follows an impressive growth trajectory built over the last few quarters in the commercial and consumer segments.
 
Dell showed consistent growth over the last few quarters in the Consumer and Small business segments to successfully capture No. 1 spot in Q1CY14 with 21.4-per cent share. Dell also leads the Small Business segment with an overall share of 26.2-per cent (No. 1 in notebook with 61.0 per cent and desktop with 15.4 per cent).

In an effort to become increasingly accessible to a widening customer base, Dell has been actively increasing its Consumer retail presence, recently launching its 200th Dell Exclusive Store in April 2014. The company, which recently went private, is aggressively focussing on increasing penetration across all segments and is reaching out to the Small Business and Commercial segments with products and solutions through its strong channel and distribution network.

In the commercial business segment, Dell showed significant growth with 40 per cent quarter on quarter over Q4 CY2013 with respect to unit shipment. For the first time, Dell also holds No. 1 position in the workstation space with 47.1-er cent share.
