F5 has acquired San Francisco-based startup Fletch to embed agentic AI capabilities into its application delivery and security platform. The move aims to simplify cybersecurity by converting massive, complex datasets into clear, actionable tasks using AI and natural language processing.
Fletch’s agentic AI autonomously correlates threat intelligence with internal data, delivering deep contextual insights, reducing alert fatigue, and shifting security teams from reactive to proactive operations. “Security teams are drowning in data and alerts. Fletch’s technology will offer real-time threat intelligence and proactive security recommendations," said Kunal Anand, F5’s Chief Innovation Officer.
Founded in 2020 by serial entrepreneur Grant Wernick, Fletch employs 86 people and has raised $28.4 million in funding. Wernick, also known for co-founding Insight Engines and Weotta, emphasized that Fletch's AI doesn’t just flag threats — it interprets, contextualizes, and recommends action steps, including automatic assignment of remediation tasks.
Unlike conventional AI that surfaces insights, Fletch’s platform closes the gap between data and decision-making. Its Forecaster agent scans global cybersecurity signals, OSINT, and internal telemetry to predict emerging threats even before Indicators of Compromise appear.
By integrating Fletch, F5 empowers security teams with prioritized, context-rich alerts and actionable recommendations, allowing less time managing noise and more time strengthening defenses. This marks a pivotal step in democratizing cybersecurity insights, enabling better, faster decisions across all organizational levels.
