GDPR Will Change The Business Dynamics
2018-06-06With the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) coming into effect from 25th May 2018 in Europe, citizens now will have the choice and more control over their personal data, including what messages they want to receive from marketers. This will make it difficult for the corporates to share their bulk branding campaigns shared through either digital or social media campaigns. The fact behind it is that, with the help of artificial Intelligence (AI), when a consumer clicks the advertisement, all the user data/ behaviour/ profile/ buying pattern can be captured. Now, the question that comes is how to do impact-full marketing to reach out to the target audience post GDPR.
Globally, the increasing number of cyber crimes has made it imperative for companies to keep pace in hiring the right talent to combat them. Therefore, companies across the world are gearing up to ensure compliance to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and ePrivacy requirements. While the larger technology giants are more or less equipped to comply, it is the mid-size and smaller firms that are seeking professionals to help them cope with the requirements that the new laws entail.
Since the number of authenticate likes and followers is of core demand, agencies will focus strongly to get the proper lead. From now onwards sending unsolicited emails will be noticed and hence the mailing lists will need to be refreshed. Brands will rely more heavily on their own networks to spread the word. As a result, they will try even harder to make those networks larger, add connections who have large numbers of connections through their own networks (Targeted digital campaign) and so with this, exposure to social media will be less. This will further lead to targeted demand generation.
Secondly, the impending implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) law in Europe has stimulated Indian companies to fortify their databases, leading to an upswing in the search for cyber security and privacy professionals. Further, the unprecedented increase in the number of cyber crimes in the country has also created a number of job opportunities for data protection and cyber security professionals.
With IT budgets being under pressure to transform and improve multiple areas of an organization, and business leaders needing to demonstrate return on every investment, the onus has long been on IT security to prove its worth. Cyber security breaches and intricacies have touched all industries and sectors. Hence, it is vital for all organisations to increase their security systems and processes.
The time has come to go back to the basics. The role of traditional media that includes TV, Magazines, Newspapers and Radio are going to increase by innovative advertisements. As the brands are cut off from reaching through on-line branding/advertisement, brands now need to communicate through alternate advertising vehicles that don’t require permission and could result in getting the business outcome.
