Google is actually testing a feature for the Play Store that would automatically launch newly installed apps, not install them. The new feature that will automatically launch the app from the Google Play Store as soon as it is installed on the device.
The new feature dubbed ‘App Auto Open’ sends users a notification that appears as a “banner across the top of the screen” when activated. Earlier users got the option to either open or uninstall the app while installing it. This feature aims to streamline the process of accessing and using new applications, enhancing user convenience and engagement with the Play Store ecosystem.
The feature is expected to work:
# Automatic Installation: When a new app is launched on the Play Store, it will be automatically installed on users' devices without requiring them to manually initiate the download. This could be particularly useful for pre-registered apps or highly anticipated releases.
# User Preferences: Users will likely have control over this feature through their Play Store settings, enabling them to opt in or out. They might be able to select specific categories or developers from which they want to receive automatic installations.
# Notifications: Users will be notified about the installation of new apps, ensuring they are aware of new additions to their device and can manage these apps as needed.
# Enhanced Discoverability: This feature could improve the visibility of new apps, helping developers reach a wider audience more quickly and effectively.
When you download an app from the Google Play Store, you currently have the options to uninstall it, open it, or continue browsing the marketplace. Soon, users might be able to have the app launch automatically after installation.
An APK teardown of the Google Play Store version 41.4.19 by Android Authority has revealed a potential new feature called "App Auto Open." This feature aims to automatically launch apps once they are installed, providing a more seamless experience for users. However, it's important to note that while APK teardowns can hint at upcoming features, they do not guarantee these features will be publicly released.
Google's initiative reflects its ongoing efforts to improve the Play Store experience by making it more seamless and user-friendly. By reducing the steps needed to access new apps, Google aims to boost app discovery and user satisfaction, benefiting both users and developers in the Play Store ecosystem.
