Google has officially launched Mixboard, an AI-powered mood board app that takes on Pinterest’s dominance in the creative design space. This innovative app enables users to build mood boards with the help of Google Gemini AI and the advanced Nano Banana image-editing model, delivering powerful tools for home decor ideas, event planning, DIY projects, fashion styling, and creative brainstorming.
Unlike Pinterest, which requires existing image collections, Mixboard allows users to generate mood boards using text prompts, instantly producing AI-generated visuals. Users can edit, combine, or regenerate images, making it ideal for designers, content creators, and Gen Z users seeking fresh inspiration.
Currently available in public beta through Google Labs in the U.S., Mixboard also offers pre-populated templates for quick creativity. The app integrates Google’s AI-powered editing capabilities, ensuring realistic, high-quality visuals for both personal and professional projects.
Google positions Mixboard as a creative hub that blends AI innovation, digital design, and social sharing, competing directly with Pinterest’s Shuffles app and other collage-making tools. With features like real-time editing, idea generation, and AI text support, Mixboard could redefine how users approach visual storytelling and digital mood boards in the age of AI-driven creativity.
