In a shocking incidence happened ever with Russian Embassy, the access to the website of the Russian Embassy in London could not open for almost 20 hours after unidentified ‘hackers’ targeted it with a denial-of-service attack, the diplomatic mission said.
The attack started at about 16:30GMT on Monday, a spokesperson for the embassy told the media. By 12:00 on Tuesday, embassy IT staff managed to restore access, the report said.
“An investigation into what happened is underway,” the spokesperson said, adding that Russian diplomatic staff were apologizing to anyone whose plans may have been affected by the downing of the website. But now, the Russian Embassy in London claims that its website was hit by hackers based in the UK which could be a state-sponsored attack.
Officials from Russian embassy say that, attack was launched on the website on Monday and they are sure that it has originated from the UK territory. However, they fail to neither accept nor decline that it was funded by Britain’s intelligence NCSC a cyber arm of UK’s GCHQ.
IT specialists at the Russian Embassy- based near the edge of Hyde Park, Kensington, West London; say that the issue will be dealt in a sensitive manner. And more details will be revealed only after getting an official nod from the Kremlin based headquarters.
