Intel’s 14th-generation Meteor Lake processors are said to bring the much-wanted upgrades over the 13th-generation. Intel is said to be leveraging AI with the upcoming processors and to improve power management on these processors. The report mentions that the new Meteor Lake processors will be able to use AI to manage power and switch between the active and low power mode based on the usages.
Intel is calling this “Intel Energy Efficiency Architecture” which is expected to arrive with future processors including the 14th-generation.
“We care very much about responsiveness when we interact with the computer. We want an immediate action, and we don’t want to wait too much,” said Efraim Rotem from Intel’s Design Engineering Group.
In order to improve the performance, Intel is using Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling. This process can be simply understood as processor intelligence on managing the processor performance depending upon the ongoing task.
For instance, the CPU operates at a higher speed when a task is running. However, it should also understand that when the task is over before switching to the low power state to conserve battery.
The AI’s involvement will make the upcoming processors more intelligent and it will be able to understand the algorithm of users’ usage pattern and optimise accordingly.
As per the report, using AI will also make the professors more responsive by up to 35%.
