iRam Technologies has invented an IPv6 based Internet enabled Electrical Switch that seamlessly fits into the IoT Architecture that would bring a new experience for people in India. This switch is the most advanced electrical switch in the world, and fits into the existing electrical boxes. The solution is reachable to middle classes and thereby improving their living standards while saving energy and providing comfort & fun.
Dept Of Information Technology (DIT) Govt Of India is actively working with IRAM in developing Internet Of things (IOT) in the space of Energy saving and process automation suitable for Indian environment and also promoting penetration of IPV6 protocols.
Internet is the most innovative, successful and massive network ever created by the humans. The next version of IPv4 is IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) the next generation protocol for the Internet. IPv6 has been designed to support Internet connectivity for electric switches to supercomputers. IPv6 suite of protocols help in building the next generation Internet called the Internet of Things (IoT) wherein every possible devices, machines, appliances, humans and other things would be able to communicate over the Internet and covers every aspect of our lives.
IoT provides communication medium based on the highly scalable and secure Internet architecture for machines, devices and objects for interacting with the environment. This connectivity enables the machines and things to generate huge data and processing of this data would help for taking intelligent actions which would improve our living standards by providing comfort, security, safety as well green and safer environment by optimal use of natural resources.
Today, India develops almost every technology for the rest of the world. However the citizens of India still have not seen the benefits of technology advancements other than a mobile phone. Internet of Things works in the ambience closer to the people and provides benefits for improving the productivity and living standards. Internet of Things provides applications for every citizen ranging from typical home to farm and helps in conserving natural resources (energy, water, oil etc.) while providing better productivity, comfort, safety and security.
iRam Technologies, a Bangalore based Startup solves the current home automation ecosystem pain points by innovating at the intersection of Solution providers, Technology and Consumers.
The features of the switch are – Real time control and monitoring, Capacitive touch, Proximity detection, Detects load condition, Takes intelligent decisions, Provides notifications, Cloud connectivity, Fits into existing electrical boxes, No rewiring required, Any electrician can install. In addition, the switch architecture allows connection of various sensors (LPG, Fire, Smoke) and door locks enabling a complete and seamless home security, safety and automation solution.

In addition iRam Technologies provides solutions for Smart Street Lighting and Smart Grid which are very essential in building the next generation Smart Cities. Smart Street Lighting transforms streetlights into intelligent, energy efficient and remotely managed lights; providing energy savings and thereby reducing the Global Warming. Smart Street Lighting serves as a foundation for the Smart Cities.
IPv6 based connectivity for Streetlights allows - Always two-way Connected – (provides real-time monitoring and controllability (ON/OFF/DIMMING) from anywhere), Wireless Mesh Connectivity , Open Standards based All-IP Connectivity, Allows Innovation.
A smart grid provides smooth and efficient delivery of electricity from suppliers to consumers using two-way digital communication technology to save energy, reduce cost, and increase reliability. Many governments across the world are promoting the smart grid as a way of addressing the global warming and emergency resilience issues.
Sensors and devices are equipped with IPv6 capabilities and placed at various locations, starting from the power generation site, power transmissi
on, power distribution, and all the way to consumer devices. This helps the electric utilities to monitor real-time power consumption and manage their power generation for cost effectiveness by using various power sources, including green energy sources.
Mr. Uday Bhaskar Rao, Chief Operating Officer says we are gearing up to launch the switch soon, and will be available for consumers. The teams vision is to utilize this switch as more than just a controller and build an affordable home automation system for average Indian homes.
Uday Explain " when Internet of things are fully implemented in all segments, billions of devices may need to be connected which require a lot of wireless devices and sensors. iRAM is taking advantage of first mover in this segment and is working to offer solutions at an affordable prices for developing countries".
