The Gujarat government, through its Department of Science & Technology, has entered into a landmark agreement with Jabil, a global leader in electronics manufacturing and supply chain solutions. Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), Jabil will invest Rs 1,000 crore to set up an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) unit in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR).
The initiative, which aims to support sectors such as networking, automotive, and capital goods, will foster a strong collaboration between Jabil and Gujarat. The agreement, signed in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, outlines plans for the unit to expand operations by 2027 and create around 5,000 new jobs.
The new EMS facility will bolster research and development capabilities while also driving skill development across the region. B.N. Shukla, Operations Director at Jabil, and Manish Gurwani, Mission Director of Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM), formalized the deal on behalf of their respective organizations. The MoU was exchanged between Mona Khandhar, Principal Secretary of the Science and Technology Department, and Frederick McCoy, Executive Vice President of Jabil.
This partnership will enhance Gujarat’s technology landscape, creating high-skilled job opportunities and driving innovation in manufacturing. Dholera SIR is equipped with world-class infrastructure that is ideal for high-tech industries, supporting the government's ‘Make in India’ initiative.
With over 50 years of experience, Jabil offers a wide range of services, including engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain solutions, with over 100 locations worldwide. Its expansion in Gujarat is expected to contribute to the region’s growing tech ecosystem, joining other major companies such as Micron and Tata Electronics, which have already set up semiconductor operations in the state.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials and representatives from Jabil, marking a key step in Gujarat’s push to become a leading hub for electronics manufacturing.
