While Apple iOS 12.0.1 brings some crucial fixes, it also contains at the same time several new problems like sending iMessages to the wrong people. Several users have reported broken call issue and are unable to make or receive calls. Similarly, some others have complained about battery draining issues.
The iOS 12.0.1 as an incremental update to fix some bizarre bugs related to Wi-Fi and charging. Problems like these has never been expected from a brand like Apple.
Despite reports of iMessage accidentally sending messages to ex-wives, ex-husbands and children, Apple has been telling users that this is a new “feature” for iOS 12. It stems from Apple now organising all contacts by Apple ID, so if family members or friends share an ID now all these messages are shared simultaneously with everyone who has that ID.
This issue is getting worse than ever been seen as an attempt by Apple to push users into each having their own Apple ID, whereas sharers have long enjoyed sharing because it means only having to purchase apps and iTunes content once.
Given Apple didn’t announce this ‘feature’ in advance, the surprise and anger of affected users is understandable. This is also playing havoc with users who have work and leisure devices with different emails and phone numbers but with Apple ID, now all their communications are mixed together.
However, the update has led to newer problems for iPhone users while the strange iMessage 'feature' still remains unresolved. A number of iOS 12.0.1 users have reported problems, including myself like battery drainage, broken calls, and abrupt signal connectivity.
Further, multiple users have highlighted problems with 4G/LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and FaceTime calls.
Apple's iOS 12.0.1, like its previous iteration, is still sending iMessages to the wrong contacts and thousands of people have reported the issue on Apple forums but haven't found any respite.
According to a user contacted by Apple Support, the iMessage "problem" is actually an iOS 12 "feature", wherein Apple is merging chat threads if users share the same Apple ID.
