The global hackathon engaged nearly 4,000 engineers across nine locations, resulting in AI-powered solutions for industrial and enterprise challenges, with winning innovations receiving cash awards, incubation support, and opportunities to advance as intellectual property.
L&T Technology Services (LTTS) has successfully concluded Engineering Intelligence (EI) OpenHack 2026, a global innovation challenge held simultaneously across nine locations in India, the United States, and Europe. The initiative brought together thousands of engineers to develop AI-powered solutions addressing critical engineering and business challenges across multiple industries.
The event was conducted across Bengaluru, Mysuru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Vadodara, Mumbai, Dallas, and Munich, reinforcing the company's focus on integrating artificial intelligence with engineering expertise to accelerate innovation.
Nearly 4,000 engineers participate across three regions
The hackathon witnessed participation from nearly 4,000 engineers, forming more than 770 teams that worked on over 500 challenge statements aligned with LTTS' strategic growth priorities.
The challenges covered a broad spectrum of domains, including Software Defined Mobility, Plant Buildout & Modernization, Energy & Automation, Next-Gen Compute & AI Infrastructure, Digital Manufacturing, MedTech, and Software Platforms & AI.
Participants leveraged AI technologies alongside domain expertise to build solutions spanning industrial automation, cybersecurity, autonomous systems, supply chain intelligence, enterprise optimization, and healthcare. The objective was to help enterprises rethink product development, operational efficiency, and business decision-making through engineering-led innovation.
Winning solutions recognised for innovation and scalability
Entries underwent multiple rounds of evaluation by a jury comprising senior LTTS executives and technology experts. Solutions were assessed on innovation, technical excellence, scalability, practical relevance, and effective application of AI.
Winning teams received cash prizes exceeding ₹30 lakh, while selected innovations were offered opportunities for further development through Project Equinox, LTTS' platform for nurturing scalable engineering solutions.
The company also shortlisted patent-worthy innovations for special recognition, enabling participants to convert promising ideas into intellectual property with commercial potential.
