Over 37,000 complaints were logged about Microsoft Outlook’s email service issues, with 61% facing server problems, while nearly 26,000 Microsoft 365 users reported login, Outlook, and Exchange issues during the widespread disruption
Microsoft has successfully restored its service following a significant disruption that affected several key offerings across the United States, including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft 365, Teams, and Azure. The outage, which began around 3:30 AM IST, impacted major cities such as New York and Los Angeles, causing widespread issues for users.
The disruption was linked to a technical glitch caused by a problematic code change. After quickly identifying the root cause, Microsoft performed an Outlook update rollback to revert the change and restore service. “Following our reversion of the problematic code change, we’ve monitored service telemetry and worked with previously impacted users to confirm that service is restored,” the company confirmed in a post on X, the social media platform.

The Email service issues were widespread, with more than 37,000 complaints filed on the outage tracking site Downdetector, predominantly about Microsoft Outlook. Many users also faced issues with other Microsoft services. Email downtime was particularly problematic, with 61% of Outlook users reporting server connection issues, 20% facing app-related problems, and 19% encountering issues with the website. Additionally, nearly 26,000 Microsoft 365 users reported issues, with 42% struggling to log in, 37% experiencing problems with Outlook, and 21% noting concerns about Exchange.

The company assured customers that it was monitoring service recovery closely and would continue tracking the situation until all services were fully restored.
