The new AI-powered Windows Search experience on Windows 11 has many similarities with Google’s “Search with Google Lens,” which allows users to find products online using images
With Windows 10 nearing the end of its support lifecycle, Microsoft is encouraging users to upgrade to Windows 11 by rolling out innovative features. One such feature is an AI-powered Windows Search, as confirmed by the company. However, this functionality will be exclusive to Copilot+ branded PCs equipped with Qualcomm, Intel, or AMD processors with dedicated neural processing units (NPUs).
The feature will initially be introduced to the Windows Insider community.
“You no longer need to remember file names and document locations, nor even specific names of words. Windows will better understand your intent and match the right document, image, file, or email. AI-powered search makes it dramatically easier to find virtually anything,” Yusuf Mehdi, executive vice president and consumer chief marketing officer at Microsoft, said in a press release.
Improved Windows Search with AI Model and NPU
The AI-powered, improved Search on Windows 11 is directly integrated into the UI and can be accessed from the Windows Search interface. Powered by the integrated NPU, it enables it to search both local storage and OneDrive to locate what the user is looking for.
