Mobility - The Road Ahead

Most of us today don't feel the necessity of using a desktop or a bulky laptop for doing our regular office tasks. These have been replaced slowly by first mobile phones, then smartphones and now tablets. Smartphones aided with 3G networks today are powerful and also with the advent of millions of apps, we now don't need to sit on our desks for making reports, MIS, meetings, data sharing conferences, etc. We just simply open our phone on the move and get our work done. This trend of porting our work to mobile devices has made enterprises mobile, resulting in faster, better and efficient business ecosystem.
A plethora of technologies are now available to make the life of a CEO easy in an enterprise. Every data is there when you need it, how you need it and where you need it. Today, data drives the business and mobile devices drives the way how enterprises process the data for their business.
From complex ERP, CRM to simple spreadsheets, all are getting ported for mobile ecosystem. Companies are slowly migrating their entire ICT infrastructure to mobile. Now, we are seeing a paradigm shift of applications from standalone to web and now to mobiles and tablets and this process will gain further momentum as 4G and future technologies will emerge.
So, enterprises are now getting smarter and agile with the advent of mobility solutions, but some of the things have to be kept in mind when we try to make an enterprise mobile such as how can we achieve our desired results, will my implementation plan be a success, will it be secure, which technology will be the best fit for my needs, is the technology stable, what about support and so on.
We all know that, though the phones have become smarter, still they don't have the processing speeds or the storage power of a PC. So, there are definitely some pitfalls in achieving our expected total enterprise mobility and these are some crucial challenges that have to be dealt with.
Cloud solutions coupled with mobile technologies can be an answer to many of the problems. The cloud can host complex applications and they can be accessed by a smart mobile device. They are secure, support is easily available and stringent SLAs are in provision.
My company InterraIT has been working in the cloud and mobility space for quite some time, providing a framework and a gamut of solutions for mobile connectivity with SCM, CRM, ERP and integration with database servers and web portals, location-based solutions.
We, at InterraIT, believe that smarter enterprises need smarter people and technologies which are complementary to each other for success and we work for making this belief a success.
Implementing a right technology for your enterprise needs a strong technology partner above anything else and as an enterprise owner you have to make a smart decision in this regard in making your enterprise smarter.
