Nokia starts EMI, Insurance Schemes over Handsets in India

It is a good news for those Nokia fans who cannot afford to pay a big amount of money for a Nokia handset in one month. According to the latest information, the Finnish cellphone maker Nokia has introduced different attractive schemes including equated monthly installments (EMIs) and insurance cover with Nokia handsets in India.

Kannan Gopalakrishnan, Director for Retail Sales, Nokia India, said, "For 95% of cases, Nokia, in partnership with New India Assurance, would be able to settle cases in a week. In the intermediate, we are also providing the option of replacement of the cellphone, if required by the consumer.

It is reportedly said that the insurance is being offered on all the models of Nokia handsets bought from Nokia priority stores, of course for selective customers who pay a spot insurance cover costing a minimum of Rs.50 or 1.25% of the price of the handset. This insurance would be valid for a year of purchasing a Nokia handset.

Market watchers believe these initiatives can help Nokia to drive up sales in the handset market.
