Electric two-wheeler maker One Moto India has signed an MoU with the Telangana government and will be investing Rs 250 crore to set up its manufacturing unit in the outskirts of Hyderabad, which is considered as a key market for electric vehicles.
It will also create around 500 direct and 2,000 indirect jobs. It aims to manufacture at least 40,000 units in the first phase of the plant launch, and the capacity will easily be taken up to 1 lakh in two years.
The new manufacturing plant is to be spread across 15 acres and will have major automation integration with additional semi-robotics and the latest manufacturing machinery to produce cutting edge products.
CEO of One Moto India Shubhankar Chaudhry said, “With the new manufacturing plant, we not only aim to serve our customers in India but also export vehicles to other global markets which One Moto is developing. We will be also setting up skill development programmes with the State since EV after-sales service requires a specialised skillset.”
He further added that there is a tremendous opportunity to create jobs in Telangana, not just at the manufacturing facility but also in rural areas. One Moto has already brought three high-speed electric scooters - Byka, Electa, and Commuta, into the Indian market.
