During the BRICS Summit 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the two leaders reviewed the growing economic and strategic ties between India and the UAE.
Modi and Sheikh Khaled welcomed the announcement by UAE-based International Holding Company to invest $11.5 billion in an integrated greenfield aluminium project in Odisha. The project is expected to be India’s largest integrated aluminium investment and could help establish Odisha as a global hub for aluminium manufacturing.
The leaders also discussed the potential role of L’Imad, the UAE’s newest sovereign investment fund, in further deepening investment and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Besides, they reviewed progress in the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, spanning commercial, energy, defence, technology and people-to-people ties.
Modi also appreciated the UAE’s active and constructive participation in BRICS under India’s chairship. The two leaders agreed to continue working closely through the grouping to advance shared interests and strengthen BRICS cooperation.
The discussions also covered opportunities to expand cooperation in strategic and emerging sectors, including defence, space, nuclear energy, technology and innovation.
The meeting followed recent high-level engagements, including UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to India in January 2026 and Modi’s visit to the UAE in May 2026.
