Despite being a new entrant to business world Knowlarity Communications is ramping up fast to cash in on the opportunities around cloud telephony in India.
Incepted in the year 2009, Knowlarity Communications Pvt Ltd. is a pioneer of cloud telephony in India. The company works with an objective of providing affordable cloud enabled solutions for small business to automate their office workflow. To sum up products offered by Knowlarity are filling an important gap in the domain of intelligent telephony solutions (Fax/PBX) that were not affordable for enterprise businesses before.
The company is the brainchild of Ambarish Gupta, an IIT graduate from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Knowlarity came into being when he realized that small and medium size enterprises in India are growing with high rate and all their business are run on their mobile phones. Then he dreamed about a hosted telephony based business product and that is how Knowlarity was born. He focused to deliver useful telephony products that will help businessman to improve their bottom-line business.
The market of SMB's in India is exponentially growing. Cloud Telephony is one such area which gives SMBs their peace of mind, without losing sight from their customer focus and resolving issues. Power of data and analytics cannot be ignored either. Ambarish Gupta, CEO, Knowlarity, believes that the market for Knowlarity products is extensive as there are more than 30 lakh SMEs in India. Thus, the opportunity lies in solving business products and helping SMEs and start ups grow.
Knowlarity has raised $6.6 million from Sequoia Capital. Knowlarity wants the enterprises in the emerging markets to be able to use the advantages of cloud telephony to the fullest. The company is all set to consolidate its position in India and grow in the international markets.
One of Knowlarity’s successful programmes has been helping the Uttar Pradesh government manage a massive mid-day meal programme that distributes free lunches in schools. Knowlarity's SuperCaller system could call 150,000 schools every day, using automated telephony to find out if the meal was distributed and generate reports in real time.
Thousands of people lose their lives in accidents or natural disasters in India as they are unable to get the right treatment at the same time. In most situations, a phone call can make a big difference in saving many lives. KnowlarityCommunications with ERCC Cloud Telephony platform, emergency alert can be broadcasted to a 1000 people in just 30 seconds to help distressed people. The solution reaches out to as many as 3,000 people simultaneously in a span of 60 seconds.
Knowlarity provides a solution, called Emergency Coordination and Control System (ERCC), which helps people dial a few digits to send pre-recorded voice calls to mobile phones. ERCC is an inexpensive emergency alert system that can be installed in offices.
For instance, a security guard can inform up to 3,000 employees during any emergency like a fire or a robbery by initiating an automated telephone call to their mobile phones by calling a number and punching few digits.
"ERCC finds application in industries, hotels, housing societies, educational institutes, hospitals, theatres, offices, shopping complexes, malls, where a lot of people are present at the same time and could get affected because of a hazard, accident, natural disaster or an attack. The ERCC, based on mobile phone communication, can save a lot of lives in case of crisis," says Ambarish.
Knowlarity has built a scalable sales model where products are sold to SME businesses in a cost effective manner. The competitive advantage of this company is that is has designed a sales model taking into account the recurring nature of cloud business, something which bigger enterprises are not accustomed to do since they have been selling products based on high upfront license fee. Apart from being affordable, these products are scale-able on demand and have lower set up times. This is an important consideration for SME businesses that are inherently nimble in their operations.
Currently with a team of 200 plus employees, Knowlarity Communication on an expansion spree and aspires to provide unified, distributed and extensible telephony platform services to all the countries of the world.
