According to the latest update, RJIL, a telecom arm of Reliance Industries, has signed a strategic alliance with mobile tower company Ascend Telecom Infrastructure for the development of 4G network. Under this agreement, the total towers available will reach to about 1,92,500.
Earlier, RJIL already has an agreement with Bharti Airtel, RCom and Viom Network to utilize their infrastructure for 4G development.
According to Sanjay Mashruwala, Managing Director, Reliance Jio Infocomm, "Our partnership with Ascend Telecom is in continuation of our efforts to forge a strategic partnership with key tower infrastructure companies to build a formidable nationwide network."
Presently, Ascend has over 4,500 mobile towers across the country. The company is getting the capital back from investor firms, including New Silk Route Growth Capital, IL&FS and the TVS Group.It is expected that the company will launch 4G services somewhere around the July - September quarter.
