Rubrik, the U.S.-based cybersecurity firm, has announced a strategic partnership with Mandiant, now part of Google Cloud, to strengthen cyber resilience and accelerate incident response for organizations. This collaboration integrates Mandiant's advanced threat intelligence directly into Rubrik Security Cloud, Clean Room Recovery on Google Cloud, and incident response processes.
Steve Elovitz, Director of Mandiant Consulting, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, "This partnership will enable organizations leveraging Rubrik’s backup solutions to identify threats in their backups powered by Mandiant’s industry-leading threat detection and intelligence. Together, we can help organizations before, during, and after cyber attacks to ensure businesses can respond quickly and get back up and running as soon as possible.”
The partnership aims to address the challenge of undetected threats within backup systems. According to Mandiant’s M-Trends 2024 report, the median dwell time for threat actors within compromised environments is 10 days, providing ample opportunity for them to launch destructive attacks. By integrating Mandiant's intelligence with Rubrik’s backup solutions, the collaboration seeks to proactively identify indicators of compromise and prevent infected backups from being restored.
Steve Stone, Head of Rubrik Zero Labs, highlighted the impact of the partnership on ransomware recovery, stating, “Organizations have been responding to ransomware attacks with months-long recovery processes, which can result in irreparable damage to the business. With Mandiant, we are able to demonstrably lessen the impact window of ransomware attacks while simultaneously increasing the capabilities available to customers in need — from threat intelligence to rapid access to incident response teams. Together, we connect the dots in a time of crisis to deliver true cyber resilience.”
This partnership between Rubrik and Mandiant represents a significant step forward in helping organizations respond more effectively to cyber threats and recover faster from attacks.
