Parekh’s return revitalized CMDA, reuniting former members and attracting a diverse spectrum of IT professionals—from laptop dealers and cybersecurity experts to exporters and manufacturers—restoring the association’s strength and industry influence
Mumbai’s Computer Media Dealers Association (CMDA), one of India’s oldest IT industry bodies founded in 1981, has undergone a remarkable revival under the leadership of Mr. Samir Parekh. Once reduced to just 25 members due to internal challenges and the emergence of rival associations, CMDA has grown to nearly 225 senior IT business owners in just three years. Parekh’s return marked a turning point, bringing back members who had migrated to other associations and attracting a diverse range of professionals, from laptop dealers and cybersecurity experts to exporters and manufacturers.
2024–25: Flourishing with key contributors
In 2024–25, CMDA’s growth was strengthened by the support of key contributors, including Mihir Shah, Rajkumar Shaith, Paresh Patel, Chetanya Shah, Devang Gattani, Nirav Raval, Bhavesh Gandhi, and Vivek Gandhi. Together, they helped drive successful programs, including a financial literacy session hosted by Ekvity and a major event sponsored by a reputed software firm. CMDA also participated in the prestigious InfoComm event at BKC, arranging high-level meetings with MLA Parag Alwani and IT Minister Ashish Shelar, reinforcing its influence as a revitalized association.
Recognition and social initiatives
CMDA was recently honoured as the Best IT Association at an awards ceremony at Novotel Airport, attended by former MP Poonam Pramod Mahajan. Parekh also supported e-waste awareness sessions led by Nirav Raval of PraanVaayu E-Waste Awareness Foundation. His vision, integrity, and collaborative leadership have restored trust, unity, and prominence to CMDA, re-establishing it as a key player in India’s IT sector.
