The Indian AI startup is bringing creators and community leaders into a structured programme offering early access to new models, direct engagement with its teams, technical resources and support for local developer events.
Indian AI startup Sarvam has introduced Sarvam Champions, a community programme aimed at expanding the pool of developers and creators building applications with its artificial intelligence tools. The initiative is designed to encourage hands-on experimentation, technical content creation and stronger local communities around Sarvam’s technology.
The programme is divided into two tracks—Creators and City Leads. Creators will focus on developing projects using Sarvam’s tools and showcasing their work, while City Leads will be responsible for bringing developers and AI enthusiasts together through local community activities. The initiative follows Sarvam’s recent Epoch 2026 conference, where the company unveiled several new AI developments, including Vision 2.0 and Bulbul V4, and outlined plans for a flagship model with more than one trillion parameters.
Two tracks target builders and community leaders
Participants selected for Sarvam Champions will receive early access to the company’s latest models and opportunities to engage directly with its product and engineering teams. They will also become part of a dedicated community where builders can exchange ideas, collaborate on projects and share experiences using Sarvam’s technology.
The Creator track is intended for developers who are already experimenting with Sarvam’s products. Selected creators will be encouraged to produce practical resources such as tutorials, technical cookbooks, live coding sessions and build-alongs. They will also demonstrate applications developed with Sarvam’s tools and provide feedback that can help the company refine its products and developer experience.
The City Lead track is aimed at individuals who already operate developer or technology communities in their respective cities. Their role will be to organise regular meet-ups, workshops and other activities that introduce more builders to Sarvam’s AI capabilities. The company plans to provide approved events with financial support, operational playbooks and content that can help organisers conduct community programmes.
City Leads will be expected to organise at least one Sarvam-focused event every month. Approved expenses can include venues, catering, banners and standees, although the programme’s event funding does not cover prize money.
Application process opens for participants
Sarvam’s selection process allows interested individuals to apply directly or be nominated by others. Applicants will need to demonstrate their previous work as part of the evaluation. Creators can submit technical content or an AI project developed using Sarvam’s tools, while City Lead applicants are expected to provide details of the communities or events they have previously managed.
Applicants can also include information about their experience, qualifications and social media profiles. The company is positioning the programme as a way to identify active builders while creating a stronger feedback loop between its developer community and internal teams.
The initiative comes as Sarvam continues to expand its presence in India’s rapidly developing AI ecosystem. The startup is currently raising capital through a Series B funding round, with IndiGo Ventures among its recent investors. It has previously attracted backing from technology companies including HCLTech and Nvidia.
Sarvam has also emerged as a major Indian AI player, reaching a reported valuation of $1.5 billion and becoming the country’s first AI unicorn. The Champions programme represents another step in its effort to build a broader developer ecosystem around its growing portfolio of AI models and tools.
