MongoDB has announced that Snapdeal.com has deployed MongoDB’s scalable database to manage its extensive product catalog. Through this association, Snapdeal customers will be able to choose from over 4 million products across 500+ categories, from more than 30,000 sellers.
In India, the e-commerce space is growing at a rapid pace. According to an Assocham Report, India’s e-commerce market was worth about $2.5 billion in 2009, it went up to $6.3 billion in 2011 and to $16 billion in 2013 and is expected to touch whopping $56 billion by 2023 which will be 6.5 per cent of the total retail market.
Commenting on the association Mr. Kamal Brar, General Manager, Asia Pacific at MongoDB, said, “With 25 million members, Snapdeal is the largest online marketplace in the country and is contributing to India’s growth story in the e-commerce industry. We are pleased to partner with them and contribute to their success. Our document data model provides Snapdeal with a responsive and consistent platform that will enable them to provide more up-to-date and relevant product catalogs as well as better experience to their customers.”
As part of MongoDB’s efforts to engage with leading developers, ops professionals and executives across the globe, the company is organizing its largest event MongoDB World from June between 23-25, 2014 in New York.
