STMicroelectronics introduces STM32L0
STMicroelectronics has launched STM32L0 in India, a new range of 32-bit general-purpose microcontrollers that will significantly extend battery life in a wide range of consumer, health, and industrial applications. According to the company, the STM32L0 series extend the STM32 portfolio by completing the existing STM8 and STM32 ultra-low-power families based on 8-bit and ARM CortexTM-M3 core.
With the exclusive combination of an ARM Cortex-M0+ core and STM32 ultra-low-power features, the STM32 L0 is the latest answer to address applications operating on battery or supplied by energy harvesting. Additionally the new devices are manufactured in ST’s Ultra-low-power process technology that offers both embedded EEPROM, as well as the industry’s smallest variation in static leakage over the -40°Cto +125°C temperature range, leading to record low consumption levels at elevated temperatures.
Announcing the launch, of STM32L0 microcontrollers in India, Vinay Kumar Thapliyal, Technical Manager, MCU Marketing, STMicroelectronics India said “The product is particularly suitable for Industrial (sensor and meters), Healthcare (fitness tracker, blood pressure), Consumer (remote, game controllers, audio accessories) and RF (sensors, location tags). It is also a perfect match for many new emerging IoT applications”.
The series also features up to 64KB of Flash memory, up to 8KB of SRAM, and 2KB of embedded true EEPROM. A built-in hardware oversampling capability also enables 16-bit ADC resolution. STM32L0 devices with integrated USB FS 2.0 interface support battery charger detection and link power management. Crystal-less operation of the USB is enabled via a built-in 48 MHz oscillator. All the lines offer built- in hardware engine encryption (AES) as an option.
