The construction consultancy firm's new platform combines ERP, HR, chat, email and task management into one system, with Bollywood actor Rajeev Khandelwal on board as brand ambassador to represent its collaborative vision.
UniSteps Consulting, a project management and consultancy firm serving engineering-intensive construction projects, has launched BcStep, a Business Operating Network (BON) built to address the fragmentation of information, communication and workflows across the construction industry. The company has also partnered with Bollywood actor Rajeev Khandelwal as the brand ambassador for BcStep, tasked with representing the platform's vision of a more connected and collaborative construction ecosystem.
Bringing stakeholders onto a single network
Construction projects typically involve multiple stakeholders, including developers, architects, consultants, project management consultants (PMCs), contractors, suppliers and large internal teams. BcStep is designed as a digital ecosystem for the industry, bringing together organisations, employees, support staff and vendors to track and coordinate chats, emails, tasks, workflows and digital ERP processes on a single unified network.
The platform combines ERP, HRM, chat, email and task management into one connected ecosystem, aimed at enabling better communication and management while tracking and recording activity on a single platform. UniSteps said this approach removes the fragmentation that typically comes from using multiple separate software systems and helps ensure project coordination and continuity across stakeholders.
According to the company, BcStep is built to improve efficiency in several areas: time spent searching across emails, chats and different systems; manual follow-ups and status tracking; administrative effort involved in coordinating meetings, tasks and communication; dependence on individuals to retain project history and knowledge; activity-wise and category-wise task status tracking within offices; and overall project progress tracking for stakeholders.
Five years in development, pan-India rollout
BcStep represents approximately five years of continuous product development, spanning technology changes, product testing, architecture development, and the creation and integration of its individual applications. The platform is launching with a pan-India market focus, allowing construction organisations across the country to join the BON ecosystem.
UniSteps said BcStep is being developed as an evolving construction operating ecosystem, with a roadmap that includes further expansion into areas such as site management, invoice management, contract management and material management, alongside expanded AI capabilities through its Mr. Bon AI Assistant.
Kailash Anwala, Managing Director at UniSteps, said, “Building BcStep has been a long-term commitment for us, as we create the architecture for India's construction sector to move past fragmented systems, and into one unified environment where stakeholders can work together. Over approximately five years, we have continuously developed, tested and refined the platform, while drawing on UniSteps' more than two decades of experience in the construction industry across Project Management, Structural Consultancy, and MEP Consultancy. The result has been a powerful platform that translates real-world project coordination requirements into a digital format platform that is practical, connected and scalable. Over the next three years, our focus will be on building BcStep, establishing a strong base of paying organisations and developing it into a scalable recurring-revenue technology platform for the construction ecosystem.”
Three-year growth plan
Over the next three years, UniSteps Consulting aims to establish BcStep as a significant technology platform for the construction industry, backed by a growing base of paying organisations and a scalable recurring-revenue model.
