A Government of India undertaking, TCIL was incorporated in the year 1978 under the Administrative control of Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications. It was set up for providing Indian telecom expertise in all fields of telecom, Civil and IT to developing countries around the world.
For the ease of communication with the family members of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel deployed in inaccessible or far-flung areas of the country, the Central government has directed the Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL) to find a solution for the problem. Work in this direction is already underway and re-provisioning of Digital Satellite Phone Terminals (DSPTs) has been awarded to BBNL. For this project, TCIL has been designated by Digital Communication Commission, the Department of Telecommunication (DOT) to implement it.
