The founders of Snapdeal exit Urban Co. with a 200X return on their Rs 57 lakh investment

The founders of Snapdeal, Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal, recently left Urban Company after receiving a 200x return on their seed investment, which they made ten years ago for Rs 57 lakh and is currently worth Rs 111 crore.
According to Titan Capital, Urban Company will spend all of the revenues to help the next generation of founders. The Snapdeal founders have made angel investments in over 200 startups through Titan Capital.
The recent investments of the company include 91Trucks, Boba Bhai, and Simplismart, Ola Cabs, RazorPay, and Giva Jewelry. The company has invested in sectors like fintech, B2B services, and consumer tech.
As a part of the secondary investment, Vy Capital’s subsidiary – Dharana Capital has acquired shares worth Rs 400 crore in Urban Company. The shares have been bought from the company’s employees and other shareholders.
The founders of Snapdeal made angel investments in 300 startups through Titan Capital. They raised Rs 200 crore from limited partners to further invest in big opportunities. They also sold shares worth around Rs 78 crore through the IPO of Honasa Consumer, with a return multiple of over 100 times on the acquisition cost.
The Snapdeal founders have decided to further invest the gains in other startups. Titan Capital now has an executive team that searches for investments in early-stage startups.
The executive team is also promoters of an e-commerce enterprise software developer Unicommerce which is all set to go public after securing regulatory approval.
