There were initial reports that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) might introduce fees for mobile and landline numbers. However, TRAI has since clarified that they have no plans to do so .
The TRAI has made it clear that carrying more than one SIM card won't result in fees for users. The speculation that TRAI intends to impose charges on customers for holding multiple SIMs or numbering resources is unequivocally false.
The regulator stated that such claims are unfounded and serve only to mislead the public. On June 6, TRAI released a consultation paper requesting feedback from interested parties about the reform of the national numbering strategy.
This announcement clarifies that users can have and use multiple SIM cards without incurring any additional costs from their telecom providers. This policy allows consumers greater flexibility in managing their mobile communication needs, such as using different SIM cards for personal and professional purposes or taking advantage of different service plans.
