A video spreading widely on social media falsely portrays Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of masterminding the Pahalgam attack and a recent blast in Delhi to benefit the NDA in upcoming elections. A fact-check by Faceoff reveals that the footage is artificially generated and distorts an old speech by Kumar.
The Claim
Several users on X, including the account @InsiderWB (archive), posted a 41-second clip claiming Kumar said the Pahalgam attack and the Delhi explosion were engineered by Modi and Shah for electoral gains. The accompanying caption additionally alleges that Modi is “using the Indian army as his concubine.”
Original speech does not contain the alleged statements:
Using reverse image search, Faceoff located the authentic footage on JD(U)’s official YouTube channel. In the segment between 23:39 and 32:41 minutes, Kumar is seen in the same clothes and venue as in the viral clip. However, he makes no reference to the Pahalgam attack, the Delhi blast, or any accusations against Modi or Shah
