As there has been rise in online classes due to the coronavirus outbreak, YouTube Kids and Google Classroom have collectively recorded their highest downloads numbers in April from India. This report has been filed by Sensor Tower, which tracks mobile app downloads.
According to the report, Google Classroom was the top downloaded education app in April with 28.2 million downloads followed by YouTube Kids, which recorded 10.6 million installs during the period. The report counts download for the App Store and Google Play worldwide between April 1, 2019, and April 30, 2020, excluding apps installed via third-party stores.
The United States became the top downloaded country for Google Classroom with 15% of its total downloads and India at about 13%. India leads the global chart in terms of the number of downloads for YouTube kids with 16.8% followed by the US which registered 10.7% of its total downloads in April.
India recorded around 5.44 million collective downloads for Google Classroom and YouTube Kids whereas the US was a little behind in terms of collective downloads for the two apps at 5.36 million.
Although no Indian firms could make it to the top 10 list of most downloaded apps in the education category for the period. However, Byju’s managed to get 10th position on the Google Play Store in the given parameters.
