Amazon will invest an additional $13 billion in India by 2030 to expand its AI and cloud infrastructure, increasing its total planned investment in the country to $48 billion over the next five years.
The new investment builds on the $35 billion commitment Amazon announced last year and reflects the company's growing focus on India as a strategic market for AI and cloud services.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced the expanded investment in a post on X, saying the company plans to invest more than $21 billion in AI and cloud infrastructure as part of its broader India commitment.
The additional funding will support the expansion of AI and cloud infrastructure across Amazon's Mumbai and Hyderabad regions, the company said.
The announcement comes as global technology companies ramp up investments in India's digital infrastructure to meet growing demand for cloud computing and AI services.
India has emerged as a key destination for hyperscale data centers and AI infrastructure, attracting multi-billion-dollar commitments from major cloud providers and technology companies.
Microsoft has pledged to invest $17.5 billion in India to expand its AI and cloud infrastructure, while Google has committed $15 billion over the next five years to build AI data centers and related infrastructure.
The latest investment reinforces Amazon's long-term strategy to expand its cloud footprint in one of the world's fastest-growing digital markets, where demand for AI services, enterprise cloud adoption and data center capacity continues to accelerate.
The investment is expected to strengthen Amazon's AI infrastructure capabilities while supporting the growing adoption of generative AI and cloud services by enterprises, developers and public sector organizations across India.
