As per reports, after tying up for infrastructure sharing, Ambani brothers may join hands by entering into roaming or spectrum sharing pacts when rules permit.
After signing agreements, both the companies would have 2G, 3G, and 4G services on a combined basis with adequate airwaves across bands throughout the country, optic fibre to the doorstep and agreements for cooperation at the back and front end, according to sources.
Analysts said that it will be an expensive affair for the companies to buy spectrum and infrastructure in areas of gap than tying up with one another, especially once bandwidth sharing and trading are allowed.
The new government has already liberalised use of airwaves for any technology. For example, 800 MHz spectrum, which till now was used only by CDMA operators, can now be used to offer 4G services as well if the airwaves were bought at market price.
The government will also shortly allow companies to trade or share the spectrum they own, which has so far been barred.
