Eligible college students can now access Google AI Plus free for a year and Google AI Pro at up to 74% off for four years, unlocking Gemini tools, expanded storage and exam-prep features designed for academic use.
Google has rolled out a special pricing scheme aimed at university students, offering steep discounts on its AI subscription tiers. In India, eligible students can claim Google AI Plus at no cost for 12 months, while the more advanced Google AI Pro tier is available at up to 74 percent off its regular price for a four-year period.
The offer is designed to make Google's AI ecosystem—including its Gemini assistant, added cloud storage and higher usage caps—more accessible to students juggling coursework, research and everyday college tasks. Beyond the core Gemini experience, both plans come bundled with features aimed at simplifying study routines: tools to break down complex subjects, organise notes and materials, and support exam preparation. The added storage allowance also gives students a single place to store assignments, photos and other files.
What's included across the two tiers
The AI Plus tier offers double the standard Gemini usage limits along with access to the Flash Thinking model, 400GB of combined storage across Photos, Drive and Gmail, expanded use of Google's Flow creative studio for generating video content, greater access to Nano Banana within Search, Gemini integration in Gmail, and enhanced features in Gemini Notebook such as audio and video summaries and quiz generation.
Google AI Pro, priced at ₹489 per month for non-student users, goes further—offering four times the standard usage limits, access to the Pro model and Deep Research tools, 5TB of storage, an ad-supported-free YouTube Premium Lite tier, deeper integration of Gemini across Docs, Sheets, Slides and Chrome, and access to Google Antigravity, its agentic development platform. The Pro tier also includes expanded limits in Google AI Studio, Colab compute credits, Gemini support within Android Studio, and access to the Developer Programme's premium resources and cloud credits. Students who link a Pixel Watch or Fitbit additionally get personalised health guidance powered by Gemini.
Eligibility and how to claim the offer
To qualify, students must be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled at a recognised higher-education institution in a country where the offer is available. Applicants may be required to confirm their student status through identity-verification service SheerID, and must sign up using a personal Google Account along with a valid payment method.
The current promotion must be redeemed by December 31, 2026. Once the 12-month free period for AI Plus concludes, the subscription will automatically convert to the standard paid plan unless the user cancels beforehand.
