AMD to rope in Suresh Gopalakrishnan

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has appointed Suresh Gopalakrishnan, as the head of its server businesses. Its server business includes the company’s traditional Opteron server chip business as well as the microserver business AMD inherited when it bought SeaMicro in February.

Gopalakrishnan will be based in Sunnyvale, California, and report to Lisa Su, Senior Vice-President and General Manager of AMD’s global business units.

Lisa Su said, “Under Suresh’s leadership, we will accelerate our disruptive server strategy by leveraging our broad IP portfolio to deliver superior products designed to offer the world’s best performance-per-dollar and power efficiency.”
