Apple opens its largest India store
Apple has opened its largest franchisee-run 8,000 sq ft. in Mumbai ( India). The Flagship Apple Premium Reseller (FAPR) store will occupy two-floor in Mumbai’s High Street Phoenix mall and will showcase Apple’s entire range available in India.
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook said during the June quarter earnings call that India has “bounced back” with strong double-digit growth for the April-June months. We can say, it is an investment of Apple for positing the brand with the growing competition from Samsung and other Top Chinese brands.
“This is the largest Apple flagship store in India,” said Sutinder Singh, founder of Aptronix that is operating the store. Aptronix already runs more than 30 Apple franchisee outlets in various cities. “This store will offer the best Apple experience in India. The store will also sell third-party products like Apple accessories and health and fitness products, Singh said.
The Mumbai flagship store would be more than five time the average Apple outlets in India. As Apple’s application for single brand retail is stuck for years and is unable to open its company-owned stores in India, meanwhile Apple is resorting to open franchisee-owned outlets in India.
