Lloyds Banking Group is reinforcing its artificial intelligence initiatives with the appointment of Aritra Chakravarty as Head of Agentic AI. Chakravarty joins Lloyds from Jiffy.ai, further strengthening the bank's AI leadership team, which recently welcomed Magdalena Lis as Head of Responsible AI and Dr. Rohit Dhawan as Director of AI and Advanced Analytics.
At Jiffy.ai, Chakravarty was instrumental in developing GenAI and large language model (LLM)-powered automation solutions for financial institutions, impacting advisory, compliance, and operational frameworks. His extensive background also includes founding and leading Project Imagine, an FCA-regulated fintech, and holding global digital product leadership roles at HSBC, encompassing areas like FX, structured products, robo-advisory, and brokerage services.
In his new position, Chakravarty will spearhead the creation of agentic AI capabilities across Lloyds Banking Group. His focus will be on developing autonomous, goal-driven systems aimed at enhancing decision-making, improving operational agility, and enriching the customer experience throughout the Group.
Reporting to Rohit Dhawan, Chakravarty's appointment is seen as a significant step. Dhawan commented on Chakravarty's "rare blend of entrepreneurial vision, technical depth, and financial acumen," highlighting how his expertise in connecting advanced technology with practical, customer-focused solutions will be crucial in shaping the future of AI at Lloyds Banking Group.
