Belkin has recognized, its operations and services impact the environment and therefore, created environmental targets and objectives. With an aim to continue with the sustainable operations, Belkin has significantly improved the usage of environmental friendly materials in building their Type-C cables.
Each component in the construction of the Type-C cable is evaluated to conform compliance with the most recent environmental regulations such as RoHS, EU REACh, and California Proposition 65. The cable also utilizes a TPE jacket vs. PVC jacket. The advantage of TPE is that it dramatically reduces the use of additives such as plasticizers and stabilizers in the resin material while still meeting all of our internal quality standards in terms of reliability and durability.
The packaging of the products is made with fully recyclable materials. They have reduced the amount of plastic in the packaging and transitioned to PET plastic and utilized more paperboard to improve our recycling efforts.
At Belkin’s HQ in Playa Vista, California, the building is LEED Gold certified and includes energy-efficient, motion sensor lighting, and 14 EV car chargers. The organization has also funded solar panel installation in the office. Additionally, they have a monthly e-waste pickups, paper & battery recycling and have also completed several energy efficiency upgrades at our distribution centres around the world, resulting in a corporate wide 30% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from 2009 levels.
Kartik Bakshi, Indian Head, Belkin, said, “As a global brand we make sure that we leave no stone unturned to maintain a sustainable and tech-friendly environment. From the usage of raw materials to packaging, everything is made of fully recyclable materials.”
Belkin has implemented environmental auditing to better promote environmental stewardship in our supply chain and monitor our suppliers efforts environmental protection.
