Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a range of new services, marking a strategic effort to enhance its market presence and cater to a wider audience. A key offering is the National Wi-Fi roaming service, which enables FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) customers to access high-speed internet across India. This move comes amid recent tariff hikes by private telecom players, giving BSNL an opportunity to regain momentum in the competitive market.
As part of its rebranding initiative, BSNL has also introduced a new logo and slogan, signaling its intent to modernize and stay relevant in the evolving telecom landscape. In addition to the Wi-Fi roaming service, the company has rolled out seven new services across the country, emphasizing its focus on innovation and enhancing digital connectivity.
Historically, BSNL FTTH users could only enjoy internet access at a fixed location. However, the new National Wi-Fi roaming service allows them to connect to the BSNL network at any BSNL Wi-Fi hotspot across the country, breaking down geographical barriers. This initiative is expected to benefit both rural and urban customers, providing them with a reliable alternative to mobile networks.
To activate this service, BSNL FTTH users need to register via the company’s official portal at https://portal.bsnl.in/ftth/
The service sets BSNL apart from competitors like Jio and Airtel, who primarily rely on mobile data for roaming services. BSNL's initiative provides users with the flexibility of high-speed internet wherever its Wi-Fi hotspots are available.
In addition to these developments, BSNL is actively working to roll out 5G services in Delhi. The company has issued an open call for proposals to establish 5G coverage across nearly 1,900 sites, aiming to serve around 100,000 subscribers in the first phase. Furthermore, BSNL plans to introduce a new broadband service that eliminates the need for traditional cabling, facilitating easier deployment in remote areas.
