Emerson provides Expert Guidance
Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson has offered insight and recommendations for properly evaluating, selecting and operating smart hybrid energy solutions at telecom cell sites.
There are opportunities for improvement ranging from more precise configuration and dimensioning of hybrid systems to implementation of intelligent hybrid technologies that make hybrid solutions even more efficient and change the value proposition for some network providers.
Pratik Chube, Country GM - Products & Marketing, Emerson Network Power India said, "Telecom operators are evaluating different combinations of hybrid technologies, capital investment and OPEX to narrow down on the solutions that can deliver the lowest TCO. Even as the emerging generation of intelligent hybrid technologies promises reduced operational costs along with increased visibility and control, service providers should also look at engineered best practices that can provide measurable benefits across their network, without significant capital investment."
He added, "Fuel and power costs are largely responsible for high operational expenditures of telecom sites, adding to the woes of telecom operators who are already dealing with a dwindling ARPU and pressure on profit margins. Through careful planning and selection, Hybrid solutions can help significantly reduce costs and improve operational efficiency at telecom sites."
