Hackers prime target Health Care sector
2023-09-20
Cyber security threats are more frequent, sophisticated and costly. The Cost of a Breach is increasing day by day. By 2025 it is to cost $10.5 trillion – 15% growth year over year. Attackers haven’t wasted any time capitalizing on the rapid move to hybrid work. Every day, cybercriminals and nation-states alike have improved their targeting, speed and accuracy as the world adapted to working outside the office.
Hackers are very persistent and resourceful. They are constantly learning and evolving their techniques. This makes them a formidable adversary, even for countries with advanced cybersecurity capabilities like Israel. Israel has proved to be one of the leading countries in the robustness of its cyber security systems and its commitment towards Cyber Iron Dome. Nobody can deny their commitment to this cause and today nearly one-fifth of investment in Cyber Security finds its way into Israel.
There are a few reasons why Israel is a frequent target of cyberattacks. First, Israel is a technologically advanced country with a lot of sensitive data. Second, Israel is often involved in political and military conflicts, which makes it a target for cyberattacks by hostile actors. Third, Israel is a leader in the field of cybersecurity, which makes it a target for copycat attacks.
A ransomware hacker group published patient’s data stolen from Israel’s Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center. The *“Ragner Locker”* group followed through their threat of *releasing sensitive information gathered from a hospital in Bnei Brak,* near Tel Aviv about a month ago, if they did not receive ransom amounting to tens of millions of shekels. They claimed to have *released first 442 gigabytes of data* to the dark net. More would follow if the ransom demand was not met. It is a *war of attrition* for sure.
In India also we have seen a major attack on the AIIMS and few months after there was a second attack and the attack was from a small city near Hongkong.
