IBM has announced that Sindhudurg District Central Co-operative Bank has selected IBM for building an on-premise data center. IBM's Integrated Server Room (ISR) solution will enable the bank to set up a cost effective and energy efficient data center to offer new customer services like ATM, mobile banking, and online banking. The solution will also help the bank reduce its energy use by 25 percent.
The bank wanted to implement Core Banking solutions to offer its customer a range of financial services and comply with government regulations. Hence the bank decided to build a data center, which is essential to implement Core Banking solutions. Considering it has regional presence, Sindhudurg District Co-operative Bank needed a low cost solution, with optimal utilization capabilities.
“IBM has proven expertise in working with co-operative banks, especially in our region. Apart from being time intensive effort, setting up a data centre entails large investments and dealing with multiple vendors. We were confident of IBM’s unique ISR solution to provide the required technological support needed for expanding our offerings and providing better customer service,” said PM Gawade, Manager IT.

For organizations that require small server rooms, the traditional data center design and build methodology can be a time-consuming and difficult process. Compared to a traditional datacenter, this ISR solution occupies fifty per cent less floor space, thus contributing towards cost efficiencies.
