As per a recent update, IBM has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Israel-based security company Trusteer and plans to set up a Cybersecurity Software Lab in Israel. With this acquisition, IBM aims to advance its investment in Cloud-delivered software and services and expand its security portfolio.
The new IBM Cybersecurity Software Lab will bring together more than 200 Trusteer and IBM researchers and developers to focus on mobile and application security, advanced threat, malware, counter-fraud and financial crimes. Trusteer's research and expertise in fraud intelligence and malware will help secure organizations in a constantly evolving threat landscape.
The financial terms of the proposed deal were not disclosed. The acquisition will bring to IBM capabilities in the areas of security as a service delivered through the cloud, counter-fraud and advanced persistent threat protection and secure mobile transactions.
The Trusteer technologies will complement IBM's own Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings and its portfolio of counter-fraud software and services, including QRadar, i2, SPSS, InfoSphere and Enterprise Content Management.

Together with IBM's capabilities in advanced threat detection, analysis and remediation, we will now be able to offer our clients several additional layers of defense against sophisticated attackers.
IBM noted that Trusteer's cybersecurity protection can scale to protect tens of millions of endpoints, including smartphones and tablets. Financial malware and fraudulent activity can be identified and removed using solutions from Trusteer.
