Indian enterprises are set to increase their information and communications technology (ICT) spending in 2014, says a new report from Kable.

Indian enterprises are highly optimistic with regard to their economic prospects and are set to increase their information and communications technology (ICT) spending in 2014. According to Kable’s recent survey of 124 Indian enterprises, 27% of the respondents have expressed their intention to raise their ICT budgets in 2014, while 55% have plans to make slight increases over the same period. Investments in software are to remain on top of enterprises’ priority lists, with an average ICT budget allocation of 25% in 2014. Moreover, investments in IT services are set to increase slightly, with Indian enterprises planning to allocate 18% of their ICT budgets to this domain in 2014.

“Cloud computing is gaining significant prominence in India, with enterprises recognizing the operational advantages and cost benefits provided by these solutions. The research finds that the ability to provide advanced technologies and decent functional expertise are the main criteria that Indian enterprises look for in choosing an ICT vendor. Kable believes that the recently concluded general elections in India, point towards better governance and expects increasing technology deployments within government institutions,” commented Rajat Saxena, an analyst at Kable.

Kable’s research shows that Indian enterprises are keen to invest in advanced technologies such as business intelligence, mobility, and communications & collaboration, with more than 90% currently operating with these solutions in their organizations. As a result, in order to reduce their capital and maintenance costs, and focus on their core business operations, Indian enterprises are inclined to outsource their infrastructure and applications functions to third-party providers. Furthermore, burgeoning customer satisfaction and increasing revenues are the most important business objectives influencing Indian enterprises’ IT investment decisions.
