As part of its campus placement strategy, Infosys has unveiled its new ‘power programme’ that aims to attract top-tier talent by offering significantly higher salary packages compared to standard entry-level offerings. The initiative offers pay packages of Rs 9 lakh per annum, significantly higher than the typical entry-level packages of Rs 3-3.5 lakh previously offered by the company.
The move is in response to the increasing demand for specialized skills in the rapidly evolving technology landscape. This initiative is similar to TCS’s ‘Prime’ programme, which also targets fresh talent with specialized skills.
Depending on the role and skills, the ‘Power’ programme offers a range of pay scales ranging from Rs 4-6.5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh. The new programme is focused on coding and software challenges, programming skill assessments, and other specialized skill tests, reflecting Infosys’s commitment to attracting highly skilled candidates.
From April to June, Infosys witnessed a decrease in workforce by nearly 2,000 employees, bringing its total headcount to 315,332. This reduction mirrors the larger trend in India's $250-billion technology services sector, where numerous software exporters have been downsizing due to a slowdown over the past year.
In contrast, the top four IT firms in India are expected to hire about 82,000 freshers in fiscal year 2025. HCLTech and Wipro are planning to recruit 10,000 and up to 12,000 freshers, respectively, as they continue to expand their workforce.
