Dhadak girl Janvhi Kapoor is back in her acting shoes on New Year’s Day with Netflix’s horror anthology Ghost Stories, directed by names like Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banarjee, Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar.
Kapoor plays Sameera in Akhtar’s segment, a substitute in-house nurse, who is tasked with taking care of an elderly woman, played by Surekha Sikri. But that’s the surface naturally.
“I could relate to Sameera in that she feels a lot of pain,” said Kapoor. “That sounds morbid. But I think also that she relies on her sexuality to conceal a lot of internal issues.”
“I shot [Ghost Stories] in the one-week break I had between my films,” Kapoor added. “And those films were getting very intense and hectic, so this was actually my holiday from those films. Not to say this wasn't equally intense, but it's just when you live with the character for so long, you get a little emotionally drained. And for me, holidays don't work. Being on the set is a holiday for me. This was good like, ‘I just want to be someone else,' and then come back refreshed.”
Kapoor has a busy 2020. She is busy shooting for 2008 hit Dostana sequel, along with Kartik Aryan (Lukka Chuppi) and Lakshya (Porus). She has Gunjan Saxena-The Kargil Girl (story of the first female fighter pilots in Kargil) and Rooh-Afza (in a dual role) alongside Rajkumar Rao and Varun Sharma in her kitty.
She also will be seen in Takth that shall begin shooting in 2020, Karan Johar’s next venture, along with Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Aalia Bhatt and Anil Kapoor.
