MAIT, in association with the Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), is organizing a one-day programme titled "India Standards: A Strong ICT Nation" in Delhi on 31st July, 2014.
The day-long programme has been divided into four sessions, namely "Role of Standards in the ICT & Electronics Sector - Trends, Opportunities and Issues", "Compulsory Registration Order - Experience and way forward", "Market Surveillance, Quality Control and Inspection", "Anti-Counterfeiting and Consumer Awareness". The event aims to create awareness around internationally accepted best practices for ICT standards.
Amar Babu, President, MAIT, said, "The industry has always been appreciative of the Compulsory Registration Order as it has helped to ensure elimination of substandard and unsafe electronic goods from the Indian market. However, for the Indian IT industry to compete with the international world, there is a need for greater harmonization with global best practices."
The programme has been supported by several international organizations such as Information Technology Council, Digital Europe, Taipei Computer Association and SESEI (seconded European Standardization Expert in India).
